ESCFS Postponement Announcement

President

David Johnson MA

Dear ESCFS members, colleagues and friends,

First and foremost I hope you and your families are all well in these extreme and troublesome times.

I have been closely monitoring the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on planned international conferences.  The current predictions are that the healthcare effects of the coronavirus crisis could, unfortunately, extend significantly beyond September 2020.

After discussion with many senior members of the ESCFS and its representative members on the ISCFS council, I have made the difficult but appropriate decision to cancel the biennial meeting of the ESCFS in Oxford in September 2020 and postpone the meeting to 23 and 24 September 2022.  This will afford us all some valuable time to try and recover from the inevitable exhaustion caused by this global crisis and the important additional opportunity to start the long process of catching up on the cancelled elective surgical workload.

I can assure you that the planned outstanding Oxford venue, eminent guest speakers and social programme that have been organised for this year will be meticulously rescheduled for September 2022 so that the true spirit and soul of the ESCFS meeting will be maintained without compromise.

Yours truly

David Johnson DM (Cantab); BM BCh (Oxon); DM (Oxon); FRCS (Plast), President of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ESCFS)

welcome note
